PATRICIA LEMING Affiliated Georgia Leaders ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR
NASSP President Dr. Larry Bradley, Pat Leming, GASSP President Tracie Fleming Patricia Leming, Assistant Principal for Instruction at Morgan County High School has been chosen as the Affiliated Georgia Leaders' Assistant Principal of the Year. She will represent Georgia in the NASSP Assistant Principal of the Year competition. At Morgan County Ms. Leming is responsible for instruction, testing, teacher evaluation, and in addition other traditional assistant principal duties teaches a class each semester. In presenting the award, President Tracie Fleming cited the impact that Ms. Leming has had on raising test scores and on the graduation rate at Morgan County High. Dara Bennett , Assistant Principal at Pierce County High School, has been chosen as the GASSP Assistant Principal of the Year. Ms. Bennett serves the the Assistant Principal for Instruction at Pierce County. In making the presentation, President Tracie Fleming cited Ms. Bennett outstanding contributions to all phase of Pierce County High and the efforts that Ms. Bennett has made to create a caring, nurturing environment at the Blackshear, GA school. Congratulations to Dara Bennett!

DR. JIM ARNOLD assumes GASSP Presidency
Tracie Fleming who assumed the presidency of GASSP in July, has accepted the position of Director of Professional Learning for the Fayette County Schools. The GASSP Constitution and Bylaws require the President to be a building level administrator during their presidency and therefore it was necessary for Tracie to resign the position of President of GASSP. In making the announcement to the Board of Directors, she said, "My most gratifying professional experience has been as a high school principal and being involved with GASSP. I shall dearly miss the daily interaction with students and the interactions with peers through GASSP." We all wish Tracie the very best in her new position. Dr. Jim Arnold assumed the office President at the Business Meeting on November 11, 2008. Arnold is the Principal of Shaw High School in Columbus. In conjunction with the elevation of Dr. Jim Arnold to the office of President, the Board of Directors announces vacancies for the offices of President Elect and Second Vice President. GASSP members interested in either position should contact Executive Director Melton Callahan. The positions will be filled via election at the Winter GAEL GASSP Business Meeting. Kenneth Goseer, a past GASSP President and long time NASSP and GASSP member was chosen as State Coordinator at the GASSP Fall Conference. Goseer is Assistant Principal at Terrell Middle High School in Dawson. Kenneth will assist in the planning of GASSP conferences and will act as our liaison with NASSP.
