Lifetouch--GASSP : A partnership in promoting quality education in Georgia

NASSP announced on December 5 that Pierce County High School in Blackshear and Principal Anthony Smith have been selected one of the ten 2012 Breakthrough Schools. Congratulations to Anthony and Pierce County High School!!!

Congratulations to LISA FINE , Principal of McIntosh High School in Peachtree City, who was selected by the GASSP Board of Directors to fill the unexpired term of Second Vice President of GASSP.

The application for the 2012-2013 Principal of the Year award is now posted under the Opportunities tab of the GASSP homepage. Deadline for applications is February 1, 2012.

The GASSP Board of Directors has placed a GASSP Constitution amendment on the table for vote at the November business meeting. The amendment would change the term of office for President, President-Elect, and Second Vice President to ONE year rather than the current two years. The mobility of secondary school principals is such that it is unreasonable for individuals to make an eight year commitment to being a GASSP officer in the times that we currently face.

GASSP has entered into a significant partnership with Lifetouch, the school portrait and yearbook vendor. As a result of the partnership, GASSP will be able to significantly increase the number of scholarships offered each year to GASSP member children graduating from high school. Beginning in 2011 the scholarships will be named the GASSP Lifetouch Scholarships. GASSP is proud of its long relationship with Lifetouch that has blossomed into a partnership that will greatly benefit the membership of GASSP.

GASSP with the able help of GSSA staffers has begun a coaching program for new high school and middle school principals. The GASSP Board of Directors has adopted the 2010-2011 Strategic Plan as the organization's plan for this year. Readers are encouraged to review the Strategic Plan which can be found at the Strategic Plan tab of this web site. The Board of Directors updated the plan at the Summer GAEL Conference in July.
